Friends first, always

How it Started

The short version: work brought us together. Everything else did the rest.

We met the way a lot of good things start: on the job. Jackie ran projects for Ross Construction Management. Carlos sold for Pacific Western Painting. We kept landing at the same tables, the same events, the same long days, and we became genuine friends first. Jackie already knew Lucas and Naila. Carlos already knew there was nobody else like her. The photo here is from that very first day.

The people around us caught on before we did. Long before anything was official, we kept getting asked how long we had been married and how in love we looked. We laughed it off every time. Apparently the whole room could see it.

Then came a party in July of 2025 and one little black dress that changed everything. Carlos knew that night. From there it moved quickly, the way it does when it is finally, obviously right. And on a mountaintop the following June, he asked.

Two kids, two grownups, one very full calendar.

Lucas

best man for life

Eleven years old and already the most competitive person at this wedding. All boy, all heart, serious athlete. If there is a game on, he is in it.

Naila

Eight and a half, and the half counts. Part gem, part glitter, all heart. She has her daddy wrapped around her finger and she knows it.

They are not just part of the day. They are the reason it means this much.

Maid of honor

And then There Is Layla

Jackie's little sister, and her built in best friend since day one.

Layla is a New Yorker with a free spirit and just enough of a wild side to keep everyone honest. She has been Jackie's other half since before either of them can remember, which makes maid of honor less a title than a formality.

She welcomed Carlos like a brother from the very beginning, no audition required, no waiting period. And Lucas and Naila are about to have the greatest tia any two kids could ask for.

Where we come from

Two Families, One Table

Our dads handed down the same two things: a sense of humor that never quits, and the kind of quiet providing you only fully appreciate once you are grown. Our moms are love and light, the ones who made every house a home and every table longer.

We are not inventing anything here. We are just following them.
